Dad's interests

Created by Linda 8 years ago
My Dad Roy loved animals, particularly dogs and horses. He would not have another dog however after the death of his beloved border collie Dexter, instead he enjoyed my dogs and would walk them, care for them and generally be a second owner. Dad would always find horses to be photographed with where ever we went and seemed have a real rapport with them.

Dad's other passion was his garden. It was always full of colour, geraniums, fuchsias, roses, hanging baskets full of summer flowers. We counted once and he had 28 baskets around the bungalow. Dad also grew all our vegetables and was generous in giving away surplus veg and plants to friends and neighbours. There are dozens of gardens in this area with huge Yucca plants, all of which came from Dad's garden!

I have chosen Redwings Horse Sanctuary as Dad's charity, I know he supported them in the past, so I think he would approve.
