Grandad

A fantastic man who would have done ANYTHING for his loved ones.
I have wonderful memories of time spent with my Grandad in the garden, days out, playing the computer every Saturday (which 20 years later told me he hated)!
My favourite memories are all a little silly;
he called me Whippet from birth until he died, I was long and thin as a baby and child!!
The horse that turned his back to us and fatted and Grandad looked at the name plate and said 'no wonder it's called Thunder'!
I believed Grandad was looking for fish whilst on the ferry and I was pestering for attention - he was throwing up!
The 'TIT' top! Grandad had a polo shirt he liked, it was royal blue with two chest pockets and 3 buttons, for some reason the designers put a thick, horizontal, navy line across the top of each pocket with a line going down the middle which made each pocket have a T on. Then the bit with the buttons was also navy blue in a straight line down like an I! Therefore, I privately joked it looked like it read TIT. Mum and I were sniggering about it one day and my Nan asked what we were laughing about, she was not amused! Nan pointed it out to my Grandad who thought it quite amusing. Nevertheless Nan forbade Grandad to wear it, which he ignored and very much enjoyed wearing it as often as possible!!!
A lovely, lovely man who I was lucky to have as a grandfather, as I said he would have done anything for his family, in fact he wallpapered and painted a huge living room for me in a house I was moving into as he couldn't near the thought of me and the children having bare walls, he was 77 years old! He did announce he'd never decorate again after that!
I hope he can see us now and be pleased the 'useless bastard' he wanted to 'run a garden fork through' is no longer in our lives! Though I'm not sure anyone would really be good enough in his eyes for his Whippet!
